Magnetic Chuck

A magnetic chuck is a work holding device used in metalworking to hold ferrous metal workpieces securely via permanent magnets, electromagnets, or electro-permanent circuits. It eliminates physical clamps, reduces setup times, and provides uniform holding force for operations like surface grinding, milling, and turning.

Permanent Magnetic Chucks: Uses rare-earth or ceramic magnets turned on/off by a mechanical lever; requires no power or external electricity and generates no thermal distortion.

Electromagnetic Chucks: Uses electric current to power magnetic coils; allows variable holding strength control but requires a continuous power supply.

Electro-Permanent Chucks: Uses a short pulse of electricity only to switch the magnetic state (on and off), combining the safety of permanent magnets with the electrical control of electromagnets.
